Interesting Facts
The Jesse H. Jones Park is home to authentic reproductions of an 1830s homestead, called Redbud Hill Homestead, and an Akokisa Indian Village.The Humble Museum was established in 1976 as a Bicentennial Project. The museum features historical displays dating back to the old oil field days of 1903 and 1904.
Atascocita purports to be the Fast Food Capital of Texas due to the many fast food restaurants in the community. Atascocita (Spanish for "obstruction") was once a stronghold owned by the Spanish government used against the French.
Construction in the Atascocita area began in the 1970s, and the community was named after the historic Atascosito Road that followed the route of present-day FM 1960.
